Wild West Night huge success

OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- The casino tables are packed up and the can-can girls have gone back home, but the 27th Annual Wild West Night is still the talk of the town.

With 567 cowboys and cowgirls in attendance, the WWN made a record-breaking $16,900. This is a $2,500 increase from last year.

The Osan Officers' Spouses' Club hosted the western-themed casino night Feb. 3 at the Osan Officers' Club, or "Osan Corral" as it was called for the night.

All the revenues from WWN go into the OSC welfare fund which is utilized for scholarships and requests from the community. Some potential recipients of this fund include Osan schools, the Boy/Girl Scouts, the American Red Cross and United Service Organization, said Kitty Addington, Osan Officers' Spouses' Club president.

The backbone of this year's successful WWN were all the volunteers. There were more than 150 volunteers from the base, Camp Humphreys and as far away as Kunsan Air Base. Their jobs ranged from setting up the event to dealing out the cards.

"All the fabulous volunteers made Wild West Night a wonderful triumph!" said Mrs. Addington.

WWN is one of the many social, cultural and charitable events lead by the OOSC. For more information, visit their official Web site at www.osanosc.com.
