Preparing the next generation of Airmen

OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- They are a new generation of airmen who are ready to fight tonight.

The First Term Airmen's Center is a two week course, designed to transition first duty station Airmen from training to a mission-oriented environment.

The course provides a means of inprocessing airmen with a solid foundation of base briefings in order to prepare them to become mission ready in a minimum amount of time.

The FTAC program includes a curriculum of Air Force and Pacific Air Force required briefings, as well as, other optional briefings.

Presentations from Military Equal Opportunity, the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, the Airmen and Family Readiness Center, the Area Defense Council, and many others help to transition the new airmen quickly to mission ready status. The program also helps new airmen complete some of their ancillary training.

FTAC tries to get airmen enrolled in the program as soon as possible by signing them up during combat inprocessing. Combat inprocessing occurs when Airmen first arrive on the base. Supervisors can also call to schedule airmen into the program.

"There's no time limit for first term airmen to get into FTAC, but we try to get them in as soon as possible," said Master Sgt. Robert Leigh, FTAC noncommissioned officer in charge.
