COLONEL KEVIN R. MANTOVANI

Colonel Kevin R. Mantovani is the commander of the 51st Mission Support Group, 51st Fighter Wing, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea. As commander, he provides leadership for five squadrons totaling more than 2,700 personnel, supporting the Air Force’s most permanently forward-deployed wing, a Numbered Air Force and 24 tenant units. Colonel Mantovani provides guidance for maintaining more than 1,100 real property facilities, $1.9 billion real property replacement value, $71 million in operations and maintenance (O&M) budget, and oversees an air base defense mission, including the largest security forces squadron in the Pacific.

 

Prior to this, Colonel Mantovani was Engineering Division Chief, Headquarters 7th Air Force, Osan Air Base, Korea. As the 7th Air Force Engineer, he led a team that coordinates, plans and provides oversight of construction, real estate, environmental and CBRNE programs across the Korean peninsula. Colonel Mantovani also served as the Secretary of Defense Executive Fellow at the Union Pacific Railroad and served at Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon where he managed the Air Force’s Installation Support portfolio worth over $14B/year. Kevin commanded a 481 person Civil Engineer Squadron with a $49M/yr budget to provide support to over 9,000 people, 52 fighter jets and 1,700 facilities in Aviano, Italy. He also served as the senior executive officer and strategic planner at Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Installation and Mission Support Directorate. While there he deployed as the Special Operations Command Forward-Pakistan Engineer providing $123M in security assistance to Pakistani Special Forces. While assigned as Director of Operations, 818th Contingency Response Group he supported countless joint exercises and real-world contingency missions. While serving as the J7 Director, Combined Air Power Task Force (CAPTF), Combined Security Transition Command- Afghanistan (CSTC-A) he led a combined team to advise and construct all of the infrastructure valued at over $350M required to build the Afghan Air Force.

 

Kevin, his wife Jana and their four young children are active in the community, avid outdoorsmen and love travelling around Asia.
