Maintenance Operations is responsible for managing and coordinating the 51st Fighter Wing’s maintenance functions for Osan’s fleet of A-10 and F-16 aircraft to include documentation, data analytics, scheduling, planning, training, quality assurance, programs, and production coordination with stakeholders.  Maintenance Operations consists of about 120 personnel that range across eight different AFSCs and includes South Korean nationals and GS-level civilian.

Airmen of pride, character and competence ensuring aircraft are combat-ready for the execution of deliberate operations by executing fundamentals and developing common sense solutions.

To be a proactive, lean, and sustainable customer-focused organization, while ensuring the deliberate development of our own Airmen.  Proactive, lean, and sustainable: these three tenets will guide us to a more certain success.

After being constituted as the 51st Station Complement Squadron stationed at Coronaca Army Air Field, South Carolina in 1943, Maintenance Operations moved to Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia for a short period of time prior to being re-stationed in England for most of World War II.  While in England, Maintenance Operations earned its World War II: European, African, Middle Eastern Theater service streamer and played a critical role in the Allied campaign against Nazi Germany.  In 1944, the squadron was disbanded as the Army Air Forces began to contract with the land-based invasion of Normandy in June of 1944.  However, in 1992 the squadron was re-constituted as the 51st Logistics Support Squadron at its current home of Osan AB, Republic of Korea.  Ten years later, the squadron was re-designated as the 51st Maintenance Operations Squadron, and eleven years after this re-designation in 2013, the squadron was deactivated and in its place stands 51st Maintenance Operations, which continues to perform the same functions and duties of its predecessor squadron, but as a smaller and more efficient flight-level organization.
