Unit: 51st Munitions Squadron

Job title: Aircraft armament systems/weapons technician

Job description and its impact on the overall mission: There are three aspects to my job - weapons backshop, flight line munitions loader, and weapons standardization. I currently work in the weapons backshop where I perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks to sustain A-10 Thunderbolt and F-16 Fighting Falcon weapons systems. This includes inspecting, maintaining, and repairing Alternate Mission Equipment (AME) and Normally Installed Equipment (NIE). This greatly impacts the mission because the pilots rely heavily on a proper working weapons system.

Time at Osan: Ten months

DEROS: Sept. 2013

Family: My wife Kylene, whom I dated for four years before our marriage in May 2012, and my son Jayden, 10.

Hobbies: I enjoy riding my motorcycle, watching sports, and going on hikes.

Why did you join the military? I went to a technical school for two years after high school. While attending school I lost my job. I thought back on my days in JROTC and decided to join the military. It offered me better benefits, a chance to finish my education, and travel.

Where do you see yourself in 10 or 20 years? I plan to be retired from the Air Force and working in my second career.

What do you do for fun here? I like to go on Information Tickets and Travel tours and explore the area to experience the culture and see new things.

What's your favorite Air Force memory or story? My best memories are from my last duty station when I was in the Base Honor Guard. It gave me a great since of pride to honor those that served before me.

What accomplishment are you most proud of? I am most proud of winning the Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez Award, an Air Force-level maintenance professional award.

Who are your role models? My parents, grandfather, and JROTC instructor.
