Sara Csurilla 51st Fighter Wing Public Affairs OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- With so many budget constraints and things like Sequestration this year, there's no better time than now to help each other out, and the Air Force Assistance Fund kicked-off just in time to do that. The six-week AFAF campaign at Osan began March 26 and will run through May 3 in the hopes t of raising at least $104,026. "The AFAF campaign is an annual, on-the-job fundraising appeal conducted among Air Force personnel for the benefit of Air Force personnel," said Tech. Sgt. Nicholas Novak, Osan AFAF Project Officer. "The Air Force Assistance Fund program is designed solely for the benefit of our own. By contributing now, not only are we caring for our fellow service members and their families, but possibly to ourselves should the need ever arise for assistance in the future." The AFAF campaign contributions provide financial support to four AFAF affiliates including Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Village, Air Force Enlisted Village and the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation. These organizations help the Air Force family with aid in an emergency, with educational needs, or to have a secure retirement home for widows or widowers of Air Force members in need of financial assistance. Novack said contributions are purely voluntary and won't be pressured but all Air Force personnel on Osan can expect to be approached by volunteer representatives within their sections.
