Airman Spotlight: Senior Airman Jessica Collins Published March 26, 2012 By Staff Reports 51st Fighter Wing Public Affairs OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- Name: Senior Airman Jessica Collins Unit: 36th Fighter Squadron Job title: Aviation Resource Manager Journeyman Job description and its impact on the overall mission: Maintains squadron operations desk, and communicates critical information between several base agencies. Prepares flight authorizations and accomplishes go/no-go procedures monitoring unit allocating flying hour program. Inputs and audits over 500 flight forms and aircrew training sheets in database system. Communicates with maintenance for aircraft status and monitors UHF/VHF frequencies during flying hours. Without the support I give to the aircrew, they would not be able to accomplish their mission. Time in the military: 5 Years, 7 Months Time at Osan: Six months DEROS: Aug 28, 2012 Family: My parents Marshall and Linda Collins. Five sisters: Dawn, Sunny, Angela, Alise, and Capryce. Hometown: California City, Calif. Hobbies: Traveling, cycling, school, church, outdoor sports and volunteering for the base and community. Why did you join the military? To serve my country and to get my education. Where do you see yourself in 10 or 20 years? I am currently enrolled into Liberty University, and I have the desire to finish my Bachelors of Science in Religion. I am two classes from completing my CCAF. I plan to go Air Force Reserve to start working on my Masters in Divinity degree. I intend on going on mission trips during my time in school and get ordained before I commission into active duty Chaplaincy and pursue a career in ministry. What do you do for fun here? I enjoy volunteer work, I am serving in my church and I have my heart set on my schoolwork to finish my degree. I love being with my friends and take the opportunity to scope out the Korean Peninsula. What's your favorite Air Force memory or story? From Sept 08 to Feb 09 I was deployed with the 55th Fighter Squadron out of Shaw Air Force Base to Joint Base Balad, Iraq. Everyone came together during the holiday season and made the time away from our families better then what I thought, considering it was my first deployment. What accomplishment are you most proud of? Out of 1,800 Airmen I was awarded the 20th Fighter Wing Airman of the Year 2009. Who are your role models? My role model is my mother Linda Collins. She is very spiritual and a loving person who has been committed in a marriage with my father for 41 years. Though we have been through many trials, she has always done her best to raise me and my sisters. I admire her for her obedience to God and the spiritual growth she has inspired me with to give me the drive to go forth and serve not just my country, but the Lord as well.
