An F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot here was recently named Pacific Air Forces 2010 Company Grade Officer of the Year.

Capt. Daniel "Deuce" Lindsey, 36th Fighter Squadron, was selected from among thousands of officers as the best CGO of the command based on his military performance, significant self-improvement and community service.

"There are a lot of great CGOs in this command, and it says a lot about Daniel to win this award," said Gen. Gary North, the PACAF commander. "I am very proud of the hard work he has done to receive this recognition and the stellar career he has had so far in this command."

"It's a tremendous honor to have been selected the PACAF CGO of the Year," Captain Lindsey said. "I couldn't have won this without the support and efforts of my fellow warriors."

He said this award represents the quality of Airmen here, rather than the efforts of one individual.

"Harrumph, to the Fiends for their dedication to the mission, the Operations Group for its combat focus, and the Wing for its support for all of us," Captain Lindsey said.

Captain Lindsey also credited the training he received during a deployment to RED FLAG-Alaska, where he honed his flying skills, to winning this award. He was a flight commander with the 36th FS, and an instructor and evaluator pilot for the wing, which allowed him to lead and train many of the wing's pilots.

In additional to his professional accolades, he feels one of his hobbies also had an impact on his nomination for this honor. As a musician, he demonstrated his talents by playing shows in the Fiends Band at the Officer's Club to boost the morale of his fellow Mustangs.

Finally, he was a key member of the team, Knights of Heroes, which ran countless hours around the flight-line preparing for the Seoul Marathon. This year the team raised an astounding $36,000 for the charity.

However, in the end, he said it all comes down to family.

"Without the love of my family none of this would have been possible," Captain Lindsey said. "It's their sacrifices that allowed me to put the hours in to try and make Osan just a little better when we leave."
