Chad Thompson 51st Fighter Wing Public Affairs OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- Congratulations to the graduates of Osan's fall 2010 and spring 2011 Community College of the Air Force graduation. The base's ceremony is April 28 at 2 p.m. in the Osan Officer's Club Ballroom. The guest speaker for the event will be Chief Master Sgt. Daniel North, 51st Maintenance Group chief. The CCAF concept evolved in the early 1970s as a means of gaining accreditation and recognition for Air Force training. Air Force visionaries recognized the need to enhance the skills of the enlisted force as technicians and leaders, and on Nov. 9, 1971, Gen. John D. Ryan, Air Force Chief of Staff, approved the establishment of the Community College of the Air Force. The graduates proved they can balance a demanding military work schedule while still growing and developing their minds in order to complete their associates of applied science degree in their respective career fields. Family members, friends, commanders, supervisors and co-workers are invited to recognize this accomplishment and honor the achievements of these graduates.
