Staff Sgt. Jon Langdon of the 694th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Group was recently recognized as the best information systems security performer in the Air Force at a ceremony at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea. The award was presented to Sergeant Langdon by U.S. Army Lt. Col. Stacy Pilgreen, Deputy Chief, Special United States Liaison Activity Korea, for his outstanding contributions in helping to keep operational systems impervious to malicious attacks while remaining available to users.
One of Sergeant Langdon's outstanding contributions to his unit was to maintain an up-to-date system security plan on 19 classified systems enabling his unit to operate and facilitate intelligence missions.

"Jon has been one of my lynch-pins for the operational mission successes we have had in the 694th over the past year," said Col. Joe Dinuovo, 694th ISR Group commander.

Sergeant Langdon provided unparalleled safeguards designed to work with flying platforms, antennas, computer systems and networks that all work together to protect and defend the theater.

"Sergeant Langdon is one of those rare individuals who get it every time," said Maj. James Cropper, Detachment 1 commander, 694th ISR Group. "He saw what needed to be done and took action to successfully protect, monitor, analyze, detect and respond to unauthorized activity within DoD information systems and computer networks."

Sergeant Langdon was an advocate and the driving force behind ensuring that valuable intelligence information was not only backed up for secure storage, but easily accessible to those who needed it. His efforts guaranteed that intelligence personnel did not waste precious time looking for information.

Sergeant Langdon has a reputation for finding the correct way to get things done, and for being a proponent for change.

"Jon is a self-taught NSA system expert who kept things basic by getting into the regulations and coordinating with all the right people," said Major Cropper. "This straight-forward approach made him a no-nonsense force to be reckoned with when implementing required changes.
