Col. Thomas Deale, 51st Fighter Wing commander, launched Energy Star's Operation Change Out - The Military Challenge here Oct. 1.

This national campaign, a joint effort between the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Energy, is encouraging servicemen and women to save energy, money and protect the environment by replacing their inefficient, incandescent light bulbs with Energy Star qualified bulbs.

The goal at Osan is to change out 5,824 inefficient, incandescent light bulbs with ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs. This effort will save 507,270 kilowatt hours of electricity, $37,413.62 on energy bills and prevent 787,841 lbs of carbon dioxide emissions, over the lifetime of the bulbs.

Please stop by the 51st Civil Engineering Squadron Self Help Store, Bldg. 657, and swap out old incandescent lamps for an energy efficient CFL today.

It's time to take control of our energy future!
