51st FW to host Air Power Day Oct. 11, 12 Published Oct. 10, 2008 By the 51st Fighter Wing Public Affairs OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- The 51st Fighter Wing will host its annual Air Power Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 and 12. This year's event honors the 60th anniversaries of both the 51st FW and the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. Additionally, for the first-time since Sept. 11, 2001, the event will be open to the entire public. Previous Air Power Days were only open to DoD cardholders, military, civilian and their families, as well as Republic of Korea military members. Non-DoD cardholders are able to attend by invitation only. The event features aircraft displays from the Republic of Korea and the United States inventory, as well as displays of the U.S. Army Patriot Missile System and various ROK Army Air Defense Artillery Systems. Aerial demonstrations include the A-10 "Thunderbolt II," F-16 "Fighting Falcon," U-2 "Dragon Lady," the ROKAF F-4 "Phantom" and TA-50 "Golden Eagle." The highlight of the day will be the Combat Search and Rescue - Joint Personnel Recovery Demonstration. This demonstration is a dynamic aerial performance orchestrated with multiple aircraft operating in unison to effect the recovery of a pilot parachuting into enemy territory overrun with hostile troops. Narration, pyrotechnics, and live communications from the aircraft underscore the complex operation and punctuate the air support from the UH-60 "Blackhawk," AH-64 "Apache" helicopters, four A-10 "Thunderbolts," and four F-16 "Fighting Falcons." The following are entrance requirements: -- Korean citizens age 17 and above are required to show their Korean identification card (KID) for entry to the air show. -- All school age children carry student id's if available. -- Children without ids must be accompanied by an adult with an id. -- Visitors who are not Korean citizens must bring their passport for entry to the air show. -- No protests allowed. Protestors are illegal and will be apprehended by police and charged with trespassing. The following items cannot be brought on base: -- Pets -- Skates/Skateboards -- Bicycles -- Alcohol -- Weapons, -- Backpacks/Large Purses -- Radios -- Coolers (Hard or Soft) -- Food The general public must enter through the Doolittle Gate only.
