Airman Spotlight: SSgt Paris Jones

Unit:  6th Intelligence Squadron

Job title: Geospatial Intelligence Supervisor

Job description and its impact on the overall mission: As the eyes of the intelligence community, SSgt. Jones analyzes intelligence imagery from satellites, remotely piloted vehicles and other sources in order to discern the mundane from the dangerous.

Time in the military: 7.5 years

Time at Osan: 7 months

DEROS: April 2015

Hobbies: Scuba diving, snowboarding, hiking, cooking, listening to music and PC/video games.

Why did you join the military? I knew that the military would provide me with opportunities that I would not find in the civilian life. I grew up knowing the military lifestyle. I'm third generation Air Force.

Where do you see yourself in 10 or 20 years? 10 years: close to military retirement, seeing my stepson graduate high school and hopefully a mother of my own child. 20 years: Working on my second retirement and maybe a grandmother.

What do you do for fun here?  Travel!!! Korea is amazing if you let it be. I love walking the city and seeing an ancient place. The monthly festivals and gatherings are fun and they have interesting foods to try.

What's your favorite Air Force memory or story?  Honestly, I have too many. 7.5 years is filled with BMT, Tech school, four bases and seven TDYs. I love that I have met people and made friendships that last thousands of miles away.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?  Even though I do a lot for work and personal goals, I have never felt so proud until one of my Airmen told me that she appreciated me and all I do for her.

Who are your role models? SMSgt. Jeremy Nelson, MSgt. Amy Mendonca, MSgt. Erin Price, TSgt. Christopher Ladner and my current supervisor MSgt. Wesley Emenhiser. Every one of these individuals has helped me in one way or another. I've learned followership/leadership skills and gained life lessons from every one of these people. Every one of them took the time to learn who I am as a person and where I want to be. Some people don't fully understand how talking to someone and making them feel 'wanted' can give them the drive and renew their spirits.
