VM keeps Osan rolling during BB 14-01

OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea --  Airmen from the 51st Logistics Readiness Squadron vehicle maintenance team stay busy 24 hours a day to ensure Osan stays on track, especially during Operational Readiness Exercise Beverly Bulldog 14-01.

The mission of the team is to project, acquire and maintain optimal vehicle support throughout the peninsula supporting daily coalition operations and wartime readiness.

Shouldering the responsibility for more than 1,100 vehicles, VM has continued to fulfill their mission while being tested with and overcoming simulated real-world combat scenarios.

Staff Sgt. William Colley, 51st LRS VM material handling NCO in charge, said there are more than 20 squadrons that make up four groups - which includes two fighter squadrons - as well as tenant units on base that depend on the skill of VM Airmen to help their ORE experience run smoothly.

"We also have two mobile maintenance teams that respond to broken vehicles in the field," Colley said. "These may consist of exercise injects for training, real- world and emergency response assets. We also augment for 51st Security Forces Airmen that train hard all year long to be ready to defend the base and its assets."

With teams like VM working around the clock whether in real-world operations or during OREs, the 51st Fighter Wing will remain well prepared to fight and win tonight.

"Our team is constantly at the ready to fight and defend our compound against any enemy forces who attempt to compromise our mission," Colley said proudly. "From post-attack reconnaissance teams to the defensive fighting position teams, we are always on our toes and ready to engage the enemy head on!"
