The Osan Air Force Sergeants Association chapter and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is sponsoring National Prisoner of War and Missing in Action week here Sept. 16 -19. There will be events and demonstrations, to include reveille and retreat, informational booths, a candle light vigil and a 24-hour run. The week's events will conclude with the POW/MIA Remembrance and Memorial Dedication Ceremony Sept 19.

The celebration is to honor the sacrifices of unaccounted-for comrades-in-arms and the zeal of the families who are unsure of their status.

Observances of National POW/MIA Recognition week are being held across the U.S. and overseas on military installations, ships at sea, state capitols, schools and veterans' facilities.

This observance is one of six days throughout the year that Congress has mandated the flying of the National League of Families' POW/MIA flag.
