The Few… The Chose…Quick Response Team
The 51st Security Forces Squadron, held try-outs for the Quick Response Team here, July 8. The purpose of the QRT is to provide an immediate response to any high risk situation on Osan Air Base to include barricaded suspects, workplace violence, domestic violence and abuse response, school violence, and disaster response. During the tryouts Airmen were tested both physically and mentally with the ultimate goal of only selecting the best of the best. The physical aspect of the try-outs consisted of dragging/carrying a 70 pound buddy for 60 yard, calisthenics, building clearing, weapon assembly, 100 pound over head log presses and a 5K as a squad while securing the 100 pound log. During the rigorous try-outs Airmen are pushed to their limits and often loose hand eye coordination, basic motor skills and attention to detail. These factors simulate the effects real world operations were members of the QRT are often under extreme duress. (U.S. Air Force Photos by/ Senior Airman Adam Grant)
