Osan's Ginkgo Tree -- Before and After

The 51st Civil Engineer Squadron recently cut off dead, rotten and broken branches; repaired the main bole and replaced the boundary fence around the base's 740-year-old ginkgo tree. The work was done to encourage new growth, extend the life of the aging tree and was all done in line with Arbor Day. Trees such as this are an important piece of traditional Korean culture and have often been a focal point of village life for many years. (Courtesy Photo)
