Airman 1st Class Stephen Tritten plays Taps at the Hill 180 “Battle of the Bayonet” ceremony at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, Feb. 5. Airman Tritten’s grandfather, Joseph Birth, was part of the charge on Bayonet Hill. Mr. Birth was 19 years old at the time and a part of the United States Army’s 27th Infantry Regiment “Wolfhounds.” “It was intense, fast-paced, never saw anything like it,” Mr. Birth said. “I can’t really describe it, seeing American forces charge the hill.” Airman Tritten was told by ceremony attendees that is was an honor to have someone there who has a personal connection to today’s event. “My grandfather was thrilled and very proud that I had the opportunity to play Taps in this ceremony.” Airman Tritten is a network technician with the 51st Communications Squadron.
