Osan host Pacific Thunder 09-01
A pararescueman from the 31st Rescue Squadron, Kadena AB Japan, unlaches a weight from the rope used by the pararescuemen to take up injured, non-ambulatory survivors into a helicopter during exercise Pacific Thunder 09-01 hosted by Osan AB, Republic of Korea May 13. The Airmen were injured after a C-130 crashed in a simulated mass casualty exercise leaving two airmen non-ambulatory and four severely injured. The overall goal of the exercise is to practice integrating all airframes necessary to rescue a downed Airman in a medium to high threat environment.
