A dark past inspires bright futures
U.S. Air Force Col. (Ret.) Robert R. Swanson, delivers a message about suicide awareness and prevention to Airmen as a guest speaker at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea on March 9, 2022. Swanson, a survivor of two suicide attempts, travels to encourage military service members to take care of each other on and off duty, providing reminders that it could be a number of issues that push teammates over the edge into suicide. During the "Roadshow" speaking engagements, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and respond to staggering statistics of suicide attempts and personal stories. The ultimate goal for Swanson is to produce awareness of blind spots and prevent suicide among service members. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Vernon Young Jr.)
