June is celebrated as Pride Month around the globe in honor of the Stonewall Uprising, which took place on June 28th,1969 in Manhattan, New York. Throughout the month, the LGBTQ+ community commemorates their progress and offers members an opportunity to share their story. Tech. Sgt. Tiffany Sims, 51st Medical Group Mental Health Clinic NCOIC, chooses to disclose her sexual orientation and live openly while serving in the military for the sake of visibility and to provide representation for her LGBTQ+community. Simms views her roles of being black, in the LBGTQ community and a woman, as three platforms to advocate for progress and to represent each of her communities as a proud ambassador. “As a proud member of the three minority communities, I challenge everyone to continue to fight to build a future we can all be proud to live in, said Simms.
