Kunsan, Osan inspectors general provide tips for interaction Published March 28, 2012 By 8th Fighter Wing Public Affairs KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- When approximately 180 inspectors from Pacific Air Forces and higher headquarters team visit each base during the April consolidated unit inspection, make sure you keep basic customs and courtesies in mind. Lt. Col. Steven Harrold, 51st Fighter Wing inspector general at Osan Air Base, and Maj. Brett Rurka, 8th Fighter Wing inspector general at Kunsan Air Base, provide some tips on how to identify and interact with inspectors: Do not argue with inspectors or become defensive. If you think they are wrong, smile politely and report it to your unit commander after the inspectors leave. Create a product that will help the inspectors write their portion of the report. This can be bullet statements on great things you are doing in report format so they can just cut and paste into their report or a slide with strengths highlighted. You must sell the inspectors on your "Outstanding" rating! Always acknowledge their presence and greet them with a smile. Don't avoid eye contact, or make it then just look away in hopes they won't engage with you in conversation or notice that you are there ... they see you. The inspectors will be driving up to 70 vehicles, including rental cars, around base, marked by PACAF/IG placards in the windshield. For appropriately-marked staff cars, remember to stop and salute. Members of the core inspection team will have blue badges marked "PACAF/IG inspector" and additional inspectors will have blue badges marked "PACAF inspector." If they enter your work center, ask how you can help them and introduce them to your people. Show them the Wolf Pack family spirit. Make them a priority in any sort of customer service.
