Postal service sets holiday mail deadlines Published Oct. 30, 2011 OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- With the holidays rapidly approaching the Osan Air Base postal office offers service members a few helpful reminders this holiday season. Packages are limited to 70 pounds, and size is limited to a total of 130 inches in length and width. Cost of each package is based on weight and destination. Service members may mail gifts up to $100 per day, per person without having to pay any duty or customs fees. Gifts exceeding $100 may still be shipped, but are subject to customs and duty fees when they are inspected at the destination. There are two key exemptions to this rule, which are important to remember during the holiday season: -- Service members may mail multiple gifts in the same package provided each individual gift is annotated on the customs form and no single gift exceeds the $100 limit. -- There is no dollar limit on American-made goods provided the gift is annotated as American-made on the customs form. Every package requires a customs form (PS Form 2976-A) to identify the value of the items shipped. For individuals mailing gifts who do not want to disclose the nature of the contents inside, just affix the upper part of the form to the outside and enclose the remainder of the form inside the package.
