Combined Forces Command’s 32nd Anniversary (Sharp Point # 24-10) Published Nov. 7, 2010 By Gen. Walter Sharp United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command and U.S. Forces Korea commander YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea -- 1. Congratulations on the Combined Forces Command's 32nd Anniversary! 2. Since November 7, 1978, the Republic of Korea (ROK)/US Combined Forces Command has remained a premier war fighting headquarters with a primary mission to deter and, if necessary, defeat outside aggression against the Republic of Korea. During wartime CFC has the responsibility for the operational control of over 600,000 active-duty combined military personnel from all services. 3. Today, more than ever, the Combined Forces Command continues to reflect the mutual commitment of the Republic of Korea and the United States to maintain peace and security in Northeast Asia and I am very proud of our service members and their families. Although a lot of things have changed over the past 32 years, one thing has not: Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines along with our ROK military counterparts are the heart and strength of the ROK-US Alliance. 4. If North Korea ever attacked, CFC is well prepared and capable to provide a coordinated defense through its Air, Ground, Naval and Combined Marine and Special Operations Forces. Your continued achievements put our adversaries and their leadership on notice that we remain an agile, adaptive force capable of taking on and defeating any challenge. 5. I thank you all for your hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence and congratulations on 32 years of faithful service. 6. Kap Shi Kap Si Da - We Go Together!
