Command Sponsorship Program Allocation Plan (Sharp Point # 19-10) Published July 12, 2010 By Gen. Walter Sharp United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command and U.S. Forces Korea commander YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea -- 1. Over the past few years we've brought over 2,000 additional families to Korea so they can be stationed with their loved ones. We will continue an upward trend in the coming years as the authorized number of CSP positions in Korea increases from our current level of 4,467 to 4,636 for FY11; however, I must balance this increase in family members with the quality of life at each location. 2. Based on the enormous success of the CSP, we are now in a transition period--we have reached our support capacity in some areas; and in others, we are quickly approaching it. I track CSP status closely and I balance CSP goals with available infrastructure, school capacity, and unit movement plans. To keep your quality of life at the highest standard, I've just revised our CSP goals to increase authorizations at USAG Humphreys, while maximizing the number of service members on 2- and 3-year accompanied tours at enduring installations. 3. By updating our CSP goals, I intend to keep Korea as the "Assignment of Choice." As each location reaches its CSP quota, we have established waiting lists so you can track your status and have access to common information. In some cases, if school capacity is the limiting factor, then families without school-aged children may be granted priority for CSP. 4. I believe it's important for you to fully understand all aspects of the CSP. We now have a USFK CSP webpage that has information on current waiting lists by Service and location. If you are on a CSP waiting list, you can now track your status daily. In addition, we have detailed information on CSP application procedures. Use the CSP link as your primary source for CSP information (located at the bottom panel of the www.usfk.mil/usfk/ webpage). 5. Enhancing the quality of life by keeping families together in Korea is one of my highest priorities. We will continue to monitor CSP goals by Service, by location and provide incremental increases as the supporting infrastructure becomes available. 6. We Go Together!
