Twelve Osan captains visited the Republic of Korea Air University here July 10 as part of a program designed to increase interaction with students attending the KAU Squadron Officer's Course.

The captains provided a chance for their Korean counterparts to practice their presentation skills in a "western" format.

"We are building a bridge; creating a connection for teamwork to grow," said Lt. Col. A.J. Bossard, KAU exchange officer.

After a two-hour preparatory lesson, followed by individual and group practice, the presentations were delivered in English. Students' use of correct English grammar and was observed. Additionally, the presentation had to be completed in less than six minutes.

The 120 students were divided into teams of four and given various predetermined topics in their classrooms. The American officers scored and provided feedback, helping the students further develop their skills.

After lunch, the six best teams presented their briefing to the entire class and were graded on content, delivery, grammar, structure and supporting material.

Of course, the students weren't the only ones who gained from this exercise.

The visiting captains also enjoyed sharing stories as they learned more about their ROKAF counterparts.

"This [program] gives students a chance to interact and build a better working relationship with their American counterparts," Colonel Bossard said. "Each time we work through this process, it gets better. They are getting a better grasp of American-style briefings."
