51st FW earns "Excellent" during UCI

OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea --  After months of preparation and making sure every "i" was dotted, and every "t" was crossed, the 51st Fighter Wing's 2008 Unit Compliance Inspection officially ended April 29, as members of the Pacific Air Forces Inspector General team announced the results.

How well did the Mustangs do?

In a word: "EXCELLENT"

In addition to the overall rating, several programs earned the distinction of "best seen to date."

Furthermore, the wing continued to showcase their skills by quickly responding during the emergency management exercise. Both the wing's response and the exercise evaluation teams were given an "excellent" rating.

Col. Jon Norman, 51st Fighter Wing commander, said the results of the inspection validated that the Mustangs are "ready to fight tonight."

"I am incredibly proud of everyone," he said. "The IG gave us a thorough look and made sure we were doing everything right."

As a "thank you" for doing an excellent job, the colonel deemed May 2 as a down day.

"Your efforts have not gone unnoticed," he said. "You earned it and you deserve it."
