Volunteer Recognition Programs Published Oct. 2, 2014 By Nichole Monzon Osan Airman & Family Readiness OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- There are many ways to say thank you to a volunteer- a note, a card, a small token of appreciation, but it is also great when you can take the time to formally recognize your volunteers! National Volunteer Appreciation Week is April 12-18, 2015. We will celebrate our volunteers from across Team Osan during the 2015 Volunteer Appreciation Event, scheduled for April 15, 2015. We will thank ALL of our volunteers and present the President's Volunteer Service Awards (PVSA) and the Volunteer of Excellence Award. The Osan Airman & Family Readiness Center is a Certifying Organization for the President's Volunteer Service Award. We would like to encourage all volunteers on Team Osan to track their hours through www.presidentialserviceawards.gov. Award levels range from Bronze (over 100 hours), Silver (over 250 hours) to Gold (over 500 hours). There is also a lifetime award, the President's Call to Service Award for individuals with 4,000 hours or more of volunteer service (over a lifetime). You can self-register at www.presidentialserviceawards.gov, then Edit Profile and enter LGN-58433 for Record of Service Key. The Volunteer of Excellence Award (VEA) was established to recognize federal civilians, family members, military retirees and federal retirees who perform outstanding volunteer community service. The VEA is intended to recognize exceptional long-term volunteering. Nominations will be due on Feb 20, 2015. Military members can also be awarded the Military Outstanding Service Medal (MOVSM). The MOVSM is awarded to members of the Armed Forces for outstanding volunteer community service. Refer to DoD 1348.33-M for specific individual eligibility requirements and recommendation procedures and format. Approval authority for the Air Force is the group commander level. Thank you for all you do to make Osan a great place to work and play!!
