A part of the mission here at Osan is to take care of active duty service members and their families. For some, those families include four-legged companions as well.

To help pet ownersowners' better care for their animals the Pet Lodge started offering grooming services April 1, along with the boarding kennel they already provide.

"We have been seeing a lot more families with pets here in that last two or three years," said Jason Barreuther, 51st Force Support Squadron outdoor recreation and information tickets and travel manager. "With the increased need for services on base, we are trying to provide a location where members can have their pets taken care of. Sometimes it's hard for people to go out and find places in the local area or understand the language with providers off base, so we try and do what we can to take support those needs."

Traci Urquhart, Pet Lodge animal care provider, has been a pet lover all of her life and has been doing basic pet grooming for more than seven years. Along with bathing animals, Urquhart also does ear and teeth cleaning, basic cuts, nail clipping and shaving during the warmer months.

"I really enjoy working with animals," said Urquhart. "I've always had pets and worked with animals, and it's a joy--a love. Here I also take care of the pets of those who are on temporary duty away from Osan, traveling for vacation or doing a permanent change of station. I play with them, give them attention and ensure they are properly cared for while their owners are away."
