Colonel Casey M. Campbell is the Commander, 51st Medical Group and the Command Surgeon, 7th Air Force, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea. As commander, he provides leadership and direction for 380 personnel in four squadrons in the Air Force's most forward-deployed permanent wing. The group's primary mission is to prevent disease, optimize performance and provide clinical care to over 14,000 warfighters, dependents, and DoD civilians on a daily basis, and transition to contingency medical care at a moment's notice. As the 7th Air Force Command Surgeon, Colonel Campbell serves as the air component surgeon to U.S. Forces Korea and is the primary medical adviser to the numbered Air Force commander.
Colonel Campbell began his military career in June 2003 when he received a direct commission in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps following graduation from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He went on to complete his residency in periodontics, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He has served on the teaching staff in the periodontics residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center and is a former Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Texas Health Science Center. He was previously the Director of the Crisis Action Team for the Commander, 377th Air Base Wing, and has attained his Basic Nuclear Weapons Certification from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Colonel Campbell was the first recipient of the Air Force Surgeon General’s Award for outstanding research and writing at the Air War College in 2016.
