Airman and Family Readiness Center

To create a sense of community and readiness among base leadership, military, civilians, and their family members through assistance, education and information.

Osan Airman and Family Readiness Center assists, educates and informs our community with life-challenging issues to enhance multi-cultural integration, promotion and retention, and mission readiness.


Every military and family member's PCS move should be as trouble-free as possible. Relocation assistance provides pre-arrival, post-arrival, and pre-departure assistance through a number of informative seminars and briefings (Combat Orientation and FTAC).

Information booklets, maps, base videos and brochures are also available to provide information about Osan, the Korean peninsula, and your next duty location. Our goal is to make your stay in Korea a memorable one and to assist you in your next move. A&FRC has a number of small household items available for short-term guests and new arrivals awaiting delivery of their household goods..

Family Services

We have small household items available for short term loan for individuals who are here TDY or who are PCSing in or out of Osan. 

In addition, A&FRC loans out catalogs, brochures, grocery coupons, and information on your next duty location. Visit www.planmymove.org (not accessible from DoD computers) or www.militaryhomefront.dod.mil for information on all other DoD installations.

Career Focus/Employment Services

Advisory services are available to all US I.D. cardholders in skills development, job assistance, and career planning. Assistance is provided to active duty military who are seeking part time employment., The career consultant maintains constant contact with contractors on current job opportunities. Additionally, a number of seminars and classes are offered to improve your marketability and job search skills.

Personal Financial Readiness

Financial Independence sound good to you? Our Personal Financial Management Program  has aggressive game plans to help you achieve this goal. Using a wide variety of seminars and classes, as well as one-on-one counseling, we can help you achieve effective money management.

Will you be retiring or separating from the military soon? The Transition Assistance Program offers a number of services and seminars designed to make your transition to civilian life a smooth one. 

A monthly 3-day TAP seminar is offered along with resume writing classes and interviewing workshops. Our computerized job banks allow you to access worldwide job opportunities.

Transition Assistance is provided to those individuals who have specific needs or would like to know more about their entitlements and benefits.

Multi-Cultural Awareness

You've arrived at Osan unaccompanied, quickly learn that you are indeed in a different world and that you have a lot of free time. To help fill in the void of leisure activities and to help you better understand the Korean culture and it's people, the multi-cultural program offers a number of orientation tours and cultural awareness seminars. 

Seminars are also available for foreign spouses so that they may interact confidently with the American population. International cooking classes are offered allowing the Osan community to experience the culinary arts from a variety of cultures.

Adventure Dining -
Join our Multi-cultural Program in a pay-as-you-go exploration of Songtan area restaurants. Your evaluations will keep our Restaurant Guide current.

Explore Namdaemun Market -
Learn how to use the Seoul subway system as you tour one of Seoul's largest shopping districts. Won required.

Explore Tongdaemun Market -
Participants set out on a tour of one of the most popular shopping areas in Seoul. You will become familiar with the Seoul subway system. Won required.

Hike to Burak-San & Lunch -
Explore various hiking areas in the Songtan athletic park with stops at two village Buddhist temples, followed by an opportunity to experience typical cuisine. (Offered March - November)

Cooking Classes -
Participants will gain hands-on experience in preparing traditional dishes. American, Mexican, Filipino, Korean, Thai, Soul and Turkish cooking. Sign up in advance, space is limited.

Volunteer Resources

Providing volunteer opportunities to enhance the Osan community's quality of life, to maintain special skills, or to develop new ones. 

The Volunteer Resource Program Manager provides guidance on volunteer job referrals, maintains a list of positions base-wide, and sponsors many programs.

Family Information

Is your family joining you at Osan? Regardless of sponsorship status, all spouses must process through Spouse Orientation. 

We offer this class monthly and provide for childcare, lunch and a free gift. Call the A&FRC to register for the next class. 

Spouse Orientation 

The AFRC offers a monthly spouse orientation to Korea. Spouses have the chance to hear briefings and ask questions regarding a variety of base services and agencies: 

-- Wing mission brief
-- 51st Medical Group, including Dental and Tricare 
-- Noncombatant Evacuation Operation
-- 51st Mission Support Group, including schools, services, housing, etc
-- Legal
-- A&FRC, including korean culture

The 51st Logisitics Readiness Squadron issues gas masks for spouses and children and the 51st Civil Engineer Squadron trains spouses on how to use the mask. 

Spouses even have the chance to view the Driver's Safety Video, which is required to get a USFK driver's license. 

Spouses are highly encouraged to attend spouse orientation to learn the importance of their roles in the 51st Fighter Wing's mission. 

This is also an excellent opportunity to meet base representatives, learn about the availability of services, and meet other spouses new to Osan.

Air Force Aid Society

This non-profit organization provides emergency assistance in the form of interest-free loans or grants, counseling, referrals, and other forms of direct assistance related to emergency financial needs. Don't hesitate, stop in and see our Air Force Aid Officer and check out the AFAS programs below:
