Osan celebrates Month of the Military Child

OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea --  During the month of April, service members and their families will observe the Month of the Military Child.

The month recognizes children of service members and the hardships they endure during times of separation from parents due to deployments. The Department of Defense-wide recognition also spreads awareness about child abuse.

Below is a list of Osan events for the Month of the Military Child:

April 6 - Treasure Hunt at the Child Development Center from 3 to 4 p.m.

April 6 - Movie night marathon at the Teen Center from 4 to 1 0 p.m.

April 7 - Month of the Military Child/Child Abuse Prevention parade at the Officers' Club at 1:15 p.m.

April 7 - Base-wide egg hunt at the Osan High School Football Field, ages 2 to 12 at 2 p.m.

April 9 - 12 - Parent reading day at the Child Development Center from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

April 9 - 13 - Spring Fling School Age Camp from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

April 9 - 13 - Youth Archery Camp at the Youth Center from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Cost $45.

April 10 - Home Alone/Net Smartz Class at the Youth Center at 4 p.m.

April 10 - Camping and hiking trip to Buraksan Mountain starting at the Youth Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

April 11 - Family trip to Everland from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call Youth Center for details.

April 12 - Table tennis tournament at the Teen Center and Youth Center at 7 p.m.

April 13 - Family day picnic at the Child Development Center from 4 to 5 p.m.

April 17 - Parent and Child Communication and Life in Balance classes at the Youth Center at 4 p.m.

April 19 - Fit2Move active and healthy family contest at the Teen Center and Youth Center at 4 p.m.

April 20 - Healthy Relationship Seminar at the Teen Center at 6 p.m.

April 20 - Give parents a break at the Child Development Center and Youth Center from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.

April 23 - 27 - Military Kids Saves campaign poster contest. Drop off posters at the Youth Center.

April 24 - "Be smart with your money" workshop at the Youth Center at 4 p.m.

April 25 - Family Garden Project (School Age Program) at 4 p.m.

April 26 - Base Beautification Project (School Age Program, Teen Center and Youth Center) at 4 p.m.

April 27 - 28 - Live, Learn, Green Teen all night lock-in at the Teen Center from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

April 30 - Students Forum for seventh and eighth grade at Osan Middle School.
