Food booth available for fundraisers Published March 27, 2008 By Staff Sgt. Candy Knight 51st Fighter Wing Public Affairs OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- As the saying goes, "Waste not, want not." This is exactly what 51st Services Squadron and the base advisory council had in mind when they decided to convert the former main gate shuttle bus stop into a food booth. "This past winter, organizations did not have a sheltered area for fundraising events," said Kevin Sorenson, Outdoor Recreation manager. "The base advisory council asked SVS to come up with a booth or trailer for private organizations to hold fundraising events." Mr. Sorenson added that it was decided to place a booth at the former main gate bus stop because it is a convenient place to hold such fundraising events such as burger burns. Renovations on the bus stop began March 6 and were completed March 27. The booth is open to all base organizations for fundraising use. "Reservations are made on a first come, first served basis," Mr. Sorenson said. "Also, reservations must be made at outdoor recreation, in person and with full payment." He added that groups who rent out the booth are responsible for cleaning when they are finished. "If they don't clean the booth, they will be penalized and have to pay a fee." Organizations wanting to use the booth for a fundraising event must first coordinate and receive approval through the services finance office and then can request use of the booth from outdoor recreation.
