Name: Airman Diana LeGro

Unit: 51st Maintenance Squadron

Job title: Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) Technician

Job description and its impact on the overall mission: I align, troubleshoot, calibrate, and certify Air Force equipment. I ensure it is traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. This relates directly to the Air Forces flying mission. Aircraft need to perform at peak levels all the time and we make sure the equipment used by other maintainers does what it is supposed to do. This can determine whether an aircraft will fly or not, whether a munition hits its intended target or the building next door, or whether or not an aircraft is flying at the right altitude and airspeed. Many others depend on us to make sure their equipment and tools are repeatable and reliable.
