Members of the 51st Security Forces Squadron air base defense and intelligence section met here with leadership of the 9th Battalion, 51st Infantry Division, ROK army July 25.

This was the first face-to-face meeting between Osan's defenders and the ROKA's special forces unit.

"It's great to be able to have interactions and sit downs like this because we get to talk about what's going to happen if war kicks off and then go forth and execute training in preparation for that," said 1st Lt. Jordan Criss, 51st SFS air base defense and intelligence officer in charge. "There's a lot of moving pieces and a lot of people that we have to coordinate with, but I think it went awesome. We're all relatively new in our duty positions, so it was good for us all to get together."

Meetings like these are integral in planning the defense of the base, Criss said.

"This is really the only way to formulate a plan of attack, not just strategically but operationally and tactically as well," he said. "I think that the best way to sum it up is 'Gachi Gapsida' which means we go together. We're all trying to accomplish the same mission, and at the end of the day, to accomplish that mission we have to work together."

Ultimately, the ROKA will play a key role in helping Osan deter, defend and defeat, said Senior Master Sgt. Dennis Jones, 51st SFS air base defense and intelligence superintendent

"We might be the center piece of air base defense, but our coordination and work with them is the cornerstone of defending this base," Jones said.
